"Confronting a new development period, cooperation and competition will constitute a megatrend for the banking business development in future." This was expressed by Yang Kaisheng, vice-governor of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China at the "symposium on cooperation and development of same banking business" held by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on 21 April in Beijing, the main topic being "To seek development by innovation and to get dual wins by way of cooperation". As learned, present at the symposium were 120 honored guests coming from the shareholding business banks, city commercial banks and rural credit cooperatives from all over the country.

Yang Kaisheng said, "along with the forward march of the financial reform and opening to the outside world it requires us to have an overall innovation on the conception and tactics for cooperation. To achieve the purpose we advocate the conception of 'sharing resources, complementing each other with each other's superiority for win-win benefit by way of cooperation' to set up an utterly new cooperation pattern so as to raise the competitiveness of the Chinese capital banks in an all round way."
