The first batch of 800 QiDi air conditioners are being transported via the sea to the stations of the UN peacekeeping troops in Haiti and Cote d'Ivoire. According to contract Ningbo QiDi Electric Group will supply the UN with 100,000 air conditioners, with the transaction reaching about $20 million. This is the first time a Ningbo private business has got a large order from the United Nations.
The United Nations makes a great amount of procurement worldwide each year. Products such as air conditioners used to be supplied by manufacturers in developed countries such as Japan and S. Korea. As the quality of products made in Ningbo improves in recent years the UN begins to take notice. The 100,000 air conditioners produced by the Ningbo QiDi Electric Group will mainly be used by the peacekeeping troops, emergency hospitals and research institutions stationed by the UN worldwide. Most of them are is Africa and Latin America.
