Tenure of next HKSAR chief executive nailed down

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China on Wednesday adopted the draft interpretation on Clause 2, Article 53 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), setting that the term of office of the next HKSAR Chief Executive shall be the remaining part left by Tung Chee Hwa, former HKSAR Chief Executive.

The selection for the next Chief Executive will be held on July 10 according to the HKSAR Basic Law.
