The anti-government guerrillas have freed 10 people, including nine security personnel and a civilian, who were abducted by the guerrillas over a month ago in Nepal's far-western district of Kailali, police said Wednesday.
The guerrillas on Tuesday handed over four soldiers, five policemen and a civilian to local human rights workers at MusuriyaIlaka of the district, a local police officer said on condition of
anonymity.
The guerrillas claimed they had decided to free the captives "by honoring the Geneva Conventions".
"We were sent to Dhangadhi town, and the rebels also gave us bus fare," Tikaram Bishwakarma, the freed civilian, told reporters.
