Chinese President Hu Jintao returned home on Thursday afternoon, concluding his Southeast Asian visit aimed at boosting regional cooperation.
Hu started his nine-day tour last Wednesday, which took him to Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of the Philippines. In Indonesia, Hu also attended the 2005 Asia- Africa summit and the Golden Jubilee Commemoration of the 1955 Asian-African Conference in Bandung.
In Brunei Hu held talks with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The two countries issued a joint press statement, calling for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the two-day Asia-Africa summit, Hu met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, putting forward a five- point proposal to solve China-Japan disputes.
During his state visit to Indonesia, he held talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and they signed a joint statement, upgrading ties to a "strategic partnership."
Hu reached the Philippines on Tuesday, where he held talks with his Philippine counterpart Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. They agreed to further expand and deepen cooperative relations between China and the Philippines in political, economic and other fields.
