The country's leading newspaper, the People's Daily,publishes a commentary Saturday that highlights "the importance of protecting the fundamental interests of the people."

The commentary is entitled "Always Keep in Mind that the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of people are always the starting and ending points for all the work of ours."

All the work of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is aimed to realize people's will, meet people's demands and protect people's interests, according to the commentary.

People are the creator of the advanced productivity and culture as well as the main force for China's reforms and development, it says. The article also calls for maximum efforts to mobilize people's enthusiasm, initiatives and creativity.
