Italy and the United States admitted on Friday they had failed to agree on the final conclusions of a report into the March 4 killing of an Italian agent by American soldiers near Baghdad.
The Italian foreign ministry and the US State Department in Washington released a joint statement confirming that differences remained in the joint committee of inquiry over the reconstruction of the "friendly fire" incident.
Despite the differences, the United States and Italian members of the committee worked together in a climate of "great collaboration," the statement said, adding that the alliance between the two countries remained solid.
