27,000 people's juries into court with same right as judges
font size

May 1 will see the decision for improving the people's jury system as approved by the 10th National People's Congress to be put into practice. A contingent of 27000 people's juries appointed by the standing committees of the People's Congresses in various places will formally take up their job, enjoying the same rights of a judge when hearing the cases.

It is the first time in Chinese history that the people's juries are appointed in a uniformed way by the people's congresses at all levels and it's a landmark to indicate that the jury system of Chinese characters has by now been brought to its perfection.
