Fatah chooses nominees for legislative elections

The Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement decided to select its nominees for the July 17 legislative elections, Palestinian sources said on Saturday.

The Fatah decided to go for preparatory internal elections on May 7-8 in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, said the sources, adding the legistration to participate in the elections starts on Saturday.

The nominees that will run in the elections would be chosen on May 21.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Hassan Khreishe told the Voice of Palestine that members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee are to meet with PLC legislators in Ramallah on Monday to discuss the new amended election law.
