China to set up a leading office for state energy resources

As learned from the State Development and Reform Commission the other day, the work for setting up an office for the leading group of the state energy resources under the State Development and Reform Commission is now approaching towards its end.

Ma Kai, director-general of the State Development and Reform Commission will concurrently take up the job as the director of the leading group office of the state energy resources.

As a person of the trade said, since the cancellation of the state energy resources in 1993 the authoritative organ for working out in a uniformed way the energy policies and plans has always been in vacancy. This time the leading group office of the state energy resources to be established on the basis of the bureau for energy resources under the State Development and Reform Commission will be able to help the state strengthen and do well the unified plan in the energy resources field.

Along with the fast development of economy China has already become a large energy consuming country, the second in the world today. The volume of energy consumption takes up around 11 percent of the world while the oil-dependence on the outside world has already stepped over 40 percent and so it is a matter of great urgency for the state to strengthen the energy plan.
