Harvard China Review (HCR) held on Saturday it's eighth annual conference on Chinese economy.

The topic for 2005 annual conference was "Copious Consumption: China's Growing Appetite". A group of distinguished academic, business and government officials from China and the world attended the conference. They discussed Chinese energy consumption security, real estate, automobiles production, and financial markets and services.

Harvard China Review spokesman said the HCR held this conference on Chinese consumption because China's growing appetite for more energy, goods and services presented the world with both opportunities and challenges.

The world needed to adjust to accommodate a quickly expanding Chinese economy, while China needed to establish a more efficient economic growth model, he said.

Harvard China Review, found in 1998 by a group of students and professionals in the greater Boston area, was a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting academic, economic and cultural exchange between China and the world.

Today's conference were co-founded by Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC and Deloitte and Touche LLP.
