font size

New Zealand police identified Sunday that a body found at a carpark in Auckland was a 54 year-old Chinese woman who died from head injuries.

According to Auckland Police's press release, the body of the Chinese woman, who lived in New Zealand, was discovered in the car early on Sunday morning by a security guard. She had died by then for about 24 hours.

The car was at a shopping mall car park. A homicide inquiry is now underway.

West Auckland Police appealed for sightings of car in homicide inquiry.

"This is a busy shopping complex, so some people may have seen the vehicle and the body would have been visible to anyone next to the car," said Detective Senior Sgt John Sutton.

Police said they are conducting area inquiries with businesses and homes in the area.

The further detail of the dead is unavailable currently.
