Hong Kong started on Sunday a serial of activities to mark the Youth Day which falls on May 4, with the participation of a delegation from the All-China Youth Federation.
The activities, organized by the Hong Kong Youth Federation, is aimed at encouraging young people to make more contributions to the stability in Hong Kong and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The activities include the visit of military barracks of People's Liberation Army Garrison Troops in Hong Kong, a grand gathering on May 2, art performances given by Beijing's Qinghua University students and some other activities from May 3 to 5.
The grand gathering will be attended by Hong Kong pop singers and representatives of outstanding Chinese mainland youth from all walks of life.
Since 1996, the Hong Kong Youth Federation has been arranging Youth Day activities each year together with other local youth organizations.
The current Youth Day activities have obtained supports from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the Liaison office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.
