Cambodian former King Norodom Sihanouk will postpone his return to home from Beijing because his health reason.
The retired King said on his website on Monday that Chinese doctors have recently discovered his cancerous tumor returned again and asked him to keep stay in Beijing to receive treatment, including resuming chemotherapy.
"Chinese doctors are very worried about my health and advise me to stay on for further treatment," he said.
The examination in 2004 revealed a gastric lymphoma and relevant therapy was instituted. Recent follow up showed progression of the tumor, according to Beijing Hospital.
Consultation with specialists was held and another course of chemotherapy suggested.
The 82-year-old Sihanouk, who first diagnosed with colon cancer in 1993, said last week that he was in good health and planned to return home on May 8 to head a new national border council.
Sihanouk left the country in January to receive regular medical treatment in Beijing. He suffers from diabetes and has had colon cancer.
Sihanouk has been at the heart of Cambodian politics and played a crucial role in his country's reconciliation, peace and stability.
