Britain has no plans to invade Iran
font size

British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Tuesday that his government had no plans to launch any strikes on Iran.

It was "absurd" to think that Britain planned an invasion of Iran, Blair said in an interview with Channel 4 television in Manchester.

"I've got no intention of bombing their nuclear installations or anything else," Blair said.

"Iran is a problem on nuclear weapons, let's be under no doubt or illusions about that." Blair added.

Blair, who is seeking a re-election on May 5, has come under heavy criticism for leading Britain to war in Iraq.

"We have got a process, fortunately, with Iran where you have got France, Germany, the UK and America working on the same side together," Blair said.

France, Britain and Germany, acting on behalf of the European Union, are seeking guarantees that Iran would not use its nuclear program to make weapons, as the United States suspects.
