Senior official urges young people to learn from outstanding youths

Wang Zhaoguo, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Part of China (CPC) Central Committee, here Wednesday called on the masses of Chinese young people to learn from and to become "outstanding youths."

Addressing a symposium marking the presentation of the ninth "Chinese Youths May 4 Medals" in Beijing, Wang also urged Chinese young people to make contributions to China's economic, political and cultural construction and "building of a harmonious China."

Youth organizations presented May 4 Medals to 15 outstanding people from various fields across the country.

"May 4 Medal winners boast the fine quality of loving the partyand motherland, serving the people and making contributions to thesociety," Wang said. He called on May 4 Medalists to "cherish their honor, to be modest and prudent, and make persist efforts toachieve new progress."

Wang said he hoped Chinese young people would "better understand and carry out a series of major decisions of the CPC Central Committee and turn their patriotism into a driving force in doing a good job and studying."

Prior to the symposium, Wang met with Top Ten Outstanding Middle School Students and outstanding young migrant workers.
