font size

Singapore is well-positioned to take advantage of emerging economies like China and India, said Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan here Wednesday.

Speaking at a business event, Vivian pointed out that Singapore must adapt to exploiting the development of the two big countries as the economic center of gravity shifts towards Asia.

"Our trade links with China and India have improved rapidly over the past decade. We are seeing more Singapore companies venturing into China and India, and more investments flowing here from both countries," he added.

He also noted that the fundamentals of the Asian economies, with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)in particular, are strong and resilient enough to attract long-term investment into this region.
