Khatami stresses Iran's legitimate right to uranium enrichmentIranian President Mohammad Khatami on Wednesday vowed not to give up Tehran's "legitimate right" to uranium enrichment, the official IRNA news agency reported. If we are asked to give up our right to uranium enrichment program, whether it is long-term freeze or suspension of the program, "it will not be acceptable for us," Khatami was quoted as saying. "The issue is completely clear: we have a legitimate right and demand which should be honored," he stressed. Khatami said that Tehran might decide to resume certain nuclear activities which are yet away from enrichment. The president, however, underlined Iran's willingness for continuation of talks and understanding with Europe, saying "we will continue talks whenever Europeans are ready." "We do know certain countries are trying to impose issues on us on the part of certain powers, and we hope that Europeans -- with all their considerations -- will move in line with justice and understanding," Khatami said.
