Wang Zhongyu, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with Religions for Peace Secretary-General William F. Vendley here Thursday.
Vendley, secretary-general of the World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP), is visiting China at the invitation of China Committee on Religion and Peace (CCRP).
During their meeting, Wang expressed appreciation for the WCRP's efforts to maintain friendly links with the Chinese religious circles and the CCRP.
Wang said China places importance on the work of the CCRP and encourages CCRP to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the WCRP in a joint effort to promote world peace.
The WCRP is a non-governmental religious organization recognized by the United Nations. Its aim is to coordinate the efforts of different religious groups and individuals around the world to promote world peace.
