53 judges sacked in VenezuelaThe Supreme Court of Venezuela sacked 53 judges in five of the country's 23 states, the El Universal daily reported on Thursday. The inspector general of tribunals, judge Luis Ortiz, told the newspaper that the sacked judges, who are among the 100 judges under investigation, have been found to be involved in wrongdoings such as denial of justice, proceeding delay, corruption and ties with drug-trafficking. Ortiz denied that the dismissals by the Judicial Commission of the Supreme Court had a different purpose. Source: Xinhua |
