Venezuela and Colombia have agreed to boost cooperation in border security, a local newspaper reported Friday.

The agreement was reached at the 33rd Binational Meeting of the Commission for Integration and Border Affairs, El Universal said.

The two sides discussed smoother information exchange to facilitate a better combat against organized crime.

The two-day meeting started Thursday in the Venezuelan border state of Tachira, the paper said.
