Peace and justice unconquerable: editorial

People's Daily, the leading newspaper in China, is to publish an editorial Monday saying that peace and justice, which are the fundamental interests and common aspirations of progressive human beings, are "unconquerable".

Any forces that try to turn the clock back will eventually be eliminated by the people who pursue peace, justice and solidarity,according to the editorial to be carried on May 9, when people in European countries will celebrate the 60th anniversary of victory in the anti-fascist war (World War II) in Europe. The 60th anniversary of victory of the Chinese people in the war against Japanese aggression falls on September 3.

The editorial notes that the war, launched by fascists, brought great suffering to people in China and many other countries, as well as to the people in the countries of the aggressors. "(Relevant countries) should have a clear understanding of history and should adopt a correct attitude towards it. They should never again do things that hurt the feelings of people who had been victims of the war."

The editorial also calls upon the Chinese people to be united and promote economic growth and social stability, so as to make even greater contributions to world peace and common prosperity.
