On August 15, 1945, Japan declared its unconditional surrender. On September 2, Japanese Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu, on behalf of Mikado and the Japanese government, signed the instrument of surrender on board the battleship U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay, Japan.

Girl saved after being kidnapped

A girl is saved and taken away by police officers after being kidnapped in suburbs of Shanghai May 8.
