Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economy Azzubair Ahmed el-Hassan announced here Sunday that the country's average of economic growth reached 7 percent last year.
Azzubair announced the figure in a press statement he issued following a cabinet meeting presided over by President Omar el- Bashir.
Azzubair said in the statement that the average of 7 percent economic growth was realized compared to the targeted 6.5 percent.
Without giving details about the growth, the official referred to the increase in the currency's potentiality to more than 12 percent in addition to positive contributions for different sectors.
There was a fulfillment in tax and oil revenues which exceeded 100 percent, he added.
The Sudanese authorities appreciated "the distinctive fulfillment" of the national economy of last year and directed that it should be utilized for achieving the social aims of the state budget by decreasing poverty and creating more jobs, said Azzubair.
He, meanwhile, referred to some problems facing the Sudanese economy, such as lack of transportation and the accumulation of the harbors.
