Nation's logistics volume reaches 38.4 trln yuan in 2004

The National Development and Reform Commission, the National Statistics Bureau and China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing jointly released statistics on logistics situation in China recently. They show that a total of 2.9114 trillion yuan were spent on external logistics in China in 2004. Calculated at current price the figure increased by 16.6 percent over the previous year. China's total external logistics volume reached 38.4 trillion yuan increasing by 29.9 percent year on year at current price. It was the year with the fastest growth in the last ten years.

In 2004 added value of the logistics industry made up 6 percent of the GDP and accounted for 19.5 percent of the added value in service industry. Logistics industry has grown to be the pillar industry among tertiary industries.
