Vice premier meets Dutch health minister

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi said in Beijing Tuesday China will further cooperation with the Netherlands in public health sector.

Wu made the remark while meeting with Dutch Minister of the Health, Welfare and Sports Hans Hoogervorst.

China attaches great importance to safeguarding and promoting people's health, and will step up efforts to improve public health system in rural area and press for medical care reform in towns, said Wu.

Hoogervorst and Chinese Health Minister Gao Qiang Tuesday signed a cooperative agreement on curbing contagious diseases. The two sides agreed to increase information exchanges in tuberculosis and AIDS, and enhance cooperation in food safety and medicine renovation.

China and the Netherlands have also maintained cooperation in trade, agriculture, technology and culture, Wu said.
