The European Commission (EC) announced here on Tuesday to launched a five-year ambitious roadmap, aiming to lift the internal borders of the ten new member states of the European Union (EU), in a bid to realize free movements of persons within the EU.

In a 5-year Action Plan for Freedom, Justice and Security launched by the EU' executive on Tuesday, the EC pledged to develop an integrated management of external borders and a common visa policy over the next five years.

"One of the most tangible achievements will be the lifting of internal borders of the ten Member States that joined the ( European)Union in 2004: the freedom of movement will become a reality for all Union citizens," said a press release issued by the EC.

Currently citizens from the EU's 10 new member states still need a visa if they visit an old member states of the EU, due to the fears of large-scale of work waves and immigration waves as a result of zero border, a policy conducted in most old member states.
