font size

South Korea and the United States will likely discuss the possibility of a free trade pact at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation trade ministers' meeting, officials said Wednesday, according to Yonhap.

The trade ministers from 21 APEC members are to meet on June 1- 3 in the capital of South Korea's southernmost Jeju Island to talk about free trade and other issues ahead of an APEC summit scheduled for Busan in November.

South Korean trade minister Kim Hyun-chong and Robert Portman, the new US Trade Representative, are expected to hold talks on the margins of the trade ministers' meeting, said the officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
