China and Holland to build biomedical and information school

China and Holland will cooperate on a biomedical and information engineering school on the campus of Northeast University of China in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, according to an agreement signed in the city Wednesday.

The university will be jointly built by Northeast University of China, Holland Eindhoven University of Technology, the Neusoft Group and Royal Philips Electronics.

The school will train students in basic medicine and biology and modern bio-techniques, bio-information and computer science.

The school will enroll 1,000 students, 40 percent of whom will be post-graduate students, said He Jicheng, President of Northeast University of China.

Establishment of the school will boost the development of bio-technology and life sciences industry in China, said Frank Baaijens, representative of Holland Eindhoven University of Technology.
