China ties Germany in youth soccer
font size

Chinese boys' wasting chances makes a possible win turn out to be a 2-2 draw.

The Chinese men's youth soccer team has to receive a two-all draw with German counterparts in their warm-up series for the world youth championship.

Hosts Germans blitzed China's goal since the start and took the lead in the 20th minute when their No.11 went past the whole Chinese defence and scored with a fierce drive.

Chinese equalizer came just before the break with a Chen Tao's spot kick and the boys, led by the German coach Eckhard Krautzun, rallied in the second half to capture the lead with a brilliant score by captain Feng Xiaoting.

The Chinese youth team, upgraded from the 08 Stars team reserved for the Beijing Olympics, created some more chances in the following time yet failed to extend the gap.

The squad paid for their wasting opportunities in closing time as a German striker took avail of a right-side cross to level with a close-range shooting.

After the game, the Chinese side has made three wins, two draws and one loss in the warm-up series. The team will play the youth team from Karlsruhe next Friday.

The FIFA World Youth Championship will kick off in the Netherlands this June. China will compete with Turkey, Ukraine and Panama in group B.
