Fujian, Taiwan strengthens cooperation in tourism

A ceremony marking cooperation in tourism between Wuyishan and Alishan will be held at the Wuyishan Tourism Festival and the 8th Wuyi International Tourism Investment Seminar, where the tourism association of Wuyishan city, Fujian Province and tourism union of Jiayi, Taiwan Province will sign a memorandum of intention for cooperation in tourism, Ye Kangyong, vice mayor of Nanping city, Fujian Province announced on May 10th.

According to Chen Yangbiao, vice director of Fujian Tourism Administration, the cooperation in tourism between Fujian and Taiwan has maintained a good momentum. Fujian has seen about 500,000 tourists from Taiwan annually in recent years. But this is the first time that scenic spots have signed memo of intention for cooperation.

The head of the tourism union of Jiayi will come to Wuyishan to discuss details for the cooperation when the festival opens. The two sides are expected to reach consensus in promoting tourism resources, expanding tourism market and sending tourists to the other's tour destinations. The cooperation signifies a substantial step in tourism cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan.

The Wuyishan Tourism Festival and the 8th Wuyi International Tourism Investment Seminar is scheduled from May 16 to May 18 in Wuyishan, Fujian Province. During the festival activities including tourism products and resources presentation, symposium on cooperation in tourism, agricultural cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan will be held.
