Communique urges mainland and Taiwan to resume peace talks

A communique of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People First Party (PFP) in Taiwan urged Thursday the two sides across the Taiwan Straits to resume peace talks as soon as possible.

The cross-Straits peace talks should be held on the basis of the 1992 Consensus, which features the one-China principle, said the communique issued shortly after the CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao met PFP Chairman James CY Soong.
