Cross-Straits direct flight planned for 2006: communique

The Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People First Party (PFP) in Taiwan have agreed to promote the realization of two-way direct flights across the Taiwan Straits by 2006.

The news was disclosed Thursday in a communique on the formal talks between the CPC Central Committee General Secretary Hu Jintao and PFP Chairman James CY Soong.
