Senior leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Bolivian Leftist Revolutionary Movement agreed Thursday to improve friendly exchanges and jointly promote the development of China-Bolivia ties.

In a meeting with a delegation of the Bolivian party led by Chairman Jaime Paz Zamora, Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the CPC wants to improve understanding and friendship with major Bolivian parties including the Bolivian Leftist Revolutionary Movement to ensure China-Bolivia relations develop healthily and steadily.

Wu said cooperation between China and Bolivia has produced positive results over the past 20 years since the two countries forged full diplomatic ties.

"China and Bolivia are both developing nations. Enhancing unity and cooperation with developing nations including Bolivia is the foundation of China's foreign relations," Wu said.

The senior CPC official also expressed China's appreciation for Bolivia's "precious support" to China on the issues including Taiwan, human rights and Tibet.

Zamora said the Bolivian Leftist Revolutionary Movement has had long-term friendly cooperative relations with the CPC. He said he believed the close relations between the two parties will upgrade bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation to a new level.
