Chinese, Spanish airlines sign code-sharing agreement
font size

China Eastern Airlines Co. Ltd. and Air Europa Airlines have signed an agreement on code-sharing on air routes linking several major Chinese and Spanish cities.

Under the agreement signed in Shanghai Thursday, the two airlines will cooperate over code-sharing on air routes between Shanghai and Madrid, between Beijing and Madrid and between Shanghai and Beijing as from May 22.

The agreement will make it possible for China Eastern Airlines to expand its aviation network in Europe and raise its competitiveness there, while helping the Air Europa Airlines increase flight ticket sales in China by making use of Eastern Airlines' sales network.

The move will also make it convenient for passengers from Shanghai and Beijing to Madrid to transfer planes, a Chinese aviation official said.

China Eastern Airlines, a major Chinese air carrier, has more than 100 jet planes which operate on 60 international and 160 domestic routes.
