China wins men's 3m synchronized in FINA Grand Prix

China's Wang Feng and He Chong outpowered nine teams to win the men's 3-meter synchronized final at the FINA diving Grand Prix in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday.

Wang and He executed three of the five dives with a degree of difficulty at least 3.4, which enabled them for a winning score of 377.40 in the first day of the four-day event.

"We had very good dives today," Wang said, "All of our dives were very well. We were ahead of the other teams all of the time."

The Chinese pair pulled away in the third dive, where they cleanly executed a forward 2 1/2 somersaults, 2 twists in pike position with a degree of difficulty of 3.4 for a score of 90.78.

Canada's Philippe Comtois and Arturo Miranda were second with 315.66 points. Andreas Wels and Tobias Schellenberg of Germany, silver medallists at the Athens Olympics, were third with 314.64.
