State Council seeks opinions from non-Party personages about economic situation

May 12 saw a forum held by the State Council in Zhongnanhai on the economic situation in China, seeking opinions and suggestions from among the democratic parties, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and non-Party affiliated personages. Wen Jiabao, standing committee member of the CPC political bureau and premier of the State Council presided and addressed the forum and present at the forum is Huang Ju, standing committee member of the CPC political bureau and vice premier of the State Council.

Wen Jiabao made a circular notice about the economic situation in the previous four months and the tasks faced in economic work in future. He pointed out, it is necessary to carry on the present favorable trend in the social and economic development, must expedite the reform and to eliminate with reform the system-roots obstructing the economic development and the instability in economy and push forward earnestly the readjustment of economic structure and the transition for the growth of economy. Especially, determination must be seriously made to work out well the reform in the government itself for this constitutes the key-point in making a new breakthrough for an all-round reform of the economic system.

More than 10 people aired their opinions at the forum, putting forward views and suggestions in regard of how to do further well the macro-control work, handle well the "three-rural" work, deepen the reform of the state-owned enterprises and the financial reform, promote a healthy development of the economy of non-public ownership, increase employment and social insurance system as well as the construction of a harmonious society and so on and so forth. And it has witnessed a vivid, lively and fervent atmosphere at the forum.
