China to promote relations with Hungary: state councilor
font size

China is willing to join hands with Hungary "in continuously exploring new ways to further bilateral ties," said Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan Friday in Beijing.

In a meeting with former Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy, Tang said the Chinese government has always attached importance to developing friendly relations with Hungary.

"After President Hu Jintao's successful visit to Hungary last year, Sino-Hungarian relations have entered a new phase with rapid development and sound prospects," Tang said.

China and Hungary, under the joint efforts of both sides, have made constant progress in exchanges and cooperation in various fields, he said, noting that Hungary has become an important trade partner of China in East and Central Europe.

Tang expressed his appreciation for Medgyessy's "valuable contribution" to development of Sino-Hungarian relations.

Medgyessy, now advisor to prime minister on international affairs, spoke highly of China's achievements in development, saying that Hungary and China enjoy "great potential and good prospects in cooperation in various fields."
