Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Saturday met in Rawalpindi and expressed profound shock and dismay over desecration of the Holy Quran by the jail staff in Guantanamo Bay,the official news agency Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

The two leaders said that sentiments of the entire Muslim world, including those of Pakistani people, had been deeply hurt by the alleged incident.

They stressed upon the need by the US authorities to carry out a thorough investigation in order to ascertain the identity of the persons responsible for the crime, who should be awarded exemplary punishment.

They highlighted the need for ensuring that such incidents will not take place in the future and due respect be given to the followers of all faiths.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the prime minister's recently concluded visit to Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand and Singapore.
