Barcelona on Saturday won the Spanish league for the 17th time in their history after drawing 1-1 with Levante with two games of the season still to play.

Facing the 17th-placed Levante, Barcelona had to battle for the draw for an unassailable six points clear of second-placed Real Madrid.

Levante scored first when Alberto Rivera slammed home a first-time half-volley from a Congo head, his fifth goal of the season in the 35th minute.

Immediate after the start of the second half, Ronaldinho was brought down by a double tackle as he released a shot that went just wide, but his claims for a penalty were waved away by the referee who dished out a yellow card.

Barcelona eventually got the goal when Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o headed home a rebound off the post from a corner in the 53rd minute.

Earlier Saturday, Real managed a 2-2 draw with third-placed Seville.
