Chinese publishers under newspaper groups form federation

The publishing houses under 16 Chinese media including People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily and Wen Wei Po held in Shanghai the first national media publication summit on May 15.

On the conference the regulation of the Chinese media publication federation was adopted, and agreement was reached on sharing resources and establishing an authoritative platform for the promotion and appraisal of excellent books so as to further boost the sound and orderly development of China's book market.

Sources say the 16 publishers will, in the form of federation, work together in the topic selection and publication of major books. They will make promotion on key books by integrating the advantages of all newspaper groups and will hold annual selection of excellent books.
