With the opening ceremony of the 2005 Fortune Global Forum held here Monday, the first China Fortune Forum on Consumer Electronics also announced its opening.

"In 2004, the export revenue of China's electronics information products reached 207.5 billion US dollars, accounting for 35 percent of China's total export volume, and making it the world's largest consumer electronics manufacture base," said Wang Ning, vice chairman of the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce at the forum.

"At present, China has become the second largest consumer electronics market after the United States in the world," Wang said, "And this year, China's consumer electronics industry will see further improvement in the global market."

The consumer electronics industry, which includes home audio and video products, wireless communication ends, auto electronics and digital imaging products, has won increasing popularity in China.

"The industry's market share in China in 2008 can reach 100 billion US dollars, which will attract more investment to the industry's manufacturing," said Wan Ning, vice general manager of the US-based research company International Data Corporation (IDC)China branch.

At the forum, the magazine "TWICE China" also claimed its birth.

The magazine is jointly published by Reed Business Information -- the world's largest business information provider and the International Data Group(IDG) -- the world's largest technology information publisher.

"It is the promising future of China's consumer electronics industry that has attracted overseas investors," said Xiong Xiaohe, president of IDG Asia.
