font size

The incident of chlorine leakage in Chongqing municipality, the poisoning of hydrogen cyanide in Beijing's suburban Huairou county, as well as the poisoning caused by the farm chemicals remained on the vegetables ... and many other incidents of chemical poisoning occurred around us. Proposal put forward by CPPCC member Sun Li has got reply from Beijing Municipal Health Bureau that Beijing will set up the first rescue base for chemical poisoning in Chaoyang Hospital, and the base will be completed by the end of next year.

Since the occurrence of chemical poisoning can not be forecasted, the diseases caused by chemical poisoning usually have no incubation period and high death rate. It is hard to prevent through precautious measures that it can be transmitted through air. So far, poisoning ranks the fifth among the top ten factors that lead to death in China. However, few comprehensive hospitals in Beijing have set up detoxication departments now.

In the response to the proposal, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau planned to build a rescue base for chemical poisoning in Chaoyang hospital. According to the first phase of the plan, 9,500 square metres of the hospital will be used as the sickrooms for the treatment of patients suffering from chemical poisoning. The rescue base for chemical poisoning is composed of inpatient department, outpatient department, emergency department, intensive care department, etc. the inpatient department covers an area of 5,000 square metres and housed 100 hospital beds; the intensive care department covers an area of 1,500 square metres and houses 18 hospital beds; the outpatient department and emergency department are mainly set up to meet the need of sudden public healthcare emergencies. The whole plan is scheduled to be completed within 2006.

The basic construction cost of the rescue base is around 50 million yuan, all of which will be provided by government. Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform has arranged 30 billion yuan investment according to schedule this year.
