Palestinian leader starts China visit

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas arrived here Tuesday afternoon on a three-day state visit to China.

It is Abbas' first China trip since he succeeded Yasser Arafat to be the president of the Palestinian National Authority.

During his stay, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao are scheduled to confer with Abbas for discussion on ways to enhance the bilateral relations.
