The Second Certified Public Accountants (CPA) forum on the internationalization of the CPA profession was held Tuesday in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province.
The forum highlighted operational standards and professional ethics and further clarified professional responsibilities.
Experts from home and abroad attending the forum called on accountants and auditors to keep good faith and integrity and strictly observe the principles of independence, impartiality and fairness in their work.
Liu Zhongli, president of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) said at the forum that China has made "unremitting efforts" to set up a sound accounting system.
China has 5,200 accountant offices with approximately 140,000 accountants and seven Sino-foreign joint venture accountant agencies. Some 27 international accounting companies have set up branches in China.
The first CPA forum was held in Beijing on June 6, 2004 under the auspices of the CIPCA.
