Mongolian President Nachagyn Bagabandy appeared on national television Wednesday evening, urging the General Election Committee (GEC) to provide all necessary means for a fair presidential election on May 22.The forthcoming election would show whether the GEC has learned a lesson from the previous parliamentary election, during which disagreements about the results occurred and some still haven't been solved yet, he said.
Mongolia's presidential election will be held in four days' time and four parties have named their candidates. Several days ago, three parties released a joint statement, claiming the GEC is not running a clean election, urging a full resignation of the GEC members, re-forming the committee, and equal participation of all political parties.
