A senior Chinese official Thursday expressed the hope that the movie circles of China and the United States would work for deepening mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples.

In a meeting with Dan Glickman, chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), Liu Yunshan, head of the Department of Publicity of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the MPAA has made active efforts in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the movie circles of the two countries.

"I hope the movie industries of the two countries will play a positive role in improving mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples," said Liu, also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
