A Macao truck loaded with slippers and cloth bags entered Shenzhen Yantian port and waited for export on May 18. The cargo was to be shipped for Auckland in the United States. This is the first time Macao goods have been exported through the mainland.
In the past cargos of the Macao region were shipped for Europe and America through Hong Kong. Since the Yantian port is China's largest export supervision and control storage base it has the advantage of low overall ocean shipping cost. Plus, the Shenzhen customs recently released new measures such as international transit cargos' declaration, arrival and discharging within 24 hours etc. These considerably improved the environment of the Yantian port customs and encouraged Macao exporters to use the Shenzhen Yantian port.
According to exporters after choosing Shenzhen Yantian port their shipping costs can be reduced by half.
