Farm produce market in Quanzhou links Fujian, Taiwan

A farm produce market has recently been constructed in Quanzhou City, south China's Fujian Province, to welcome businessmen from across the Straits on the occasion of the landing of the first batch zero-tariff Taiwan fruits on the mainland for the upcoming 7th Cross-Straits Fair of Economy and Trade in Fuzhou.

Located at Shijingzhen (Stone Well Town) of Quanzhou City, the market is 12 kilometers from the Kinmen Island in the east, and linked with Xiamen in the south, Zhangzhou in the west and the city proper of Quanzhou in the north. Once opened, its annual trade volume can be expected to reach 500,000 tons.

The market is expected to open when the first-batch of Taiwan fruits arrive in the city. It is learned that the market has obtained from the Ministry of Commerce permission to conduct import/export operations, small-volume trade with Taiwan and direct trade with Taiwan's Kinmen Island, Penghu Island and Matsu Island. Besides, the market is applying to the Taiwan authority for setting up the first "mainland product wholesaling center" in Kinmen, which, upon completion, will serve together with the market as the major bridge for Taiwan farm produce entering the mainland.
