More than 1,300 businessmen from Taiwan have participated in the 7th Guangdong Taiwan economic and technological trade fair opened in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province on May 19, 2005.

Taiwan has become an important partner of Guangdong Province in terms of economic and trade cooperation. The economic, technical and trade exchanges between the two provinces have kept on growing. Firmly adhering to the country's policies that encourage Taiwan compatriot's investment, Guang Dong Province has been dedicating to creating a favorable environment for Taiwan investors and putting more efforts in inviting businessmen to Guangdong, Governor of Guangdong Province Huang Huahua said in his speech delivered at the opening ceremony. The measures have resulted in gratifying effects.

At present investment from Taiwan is the 2nd largest proportion in direct investment to Guangdong. The trade volume between Guangdong and Taiwan reached 30.2 bln US dollars in 2004.

A wide variety of activities including photo exhibition, symposium for representatives of Taiwan businessmen and seminars on high-tech industries and development zones were held during the trade fair. Related departments of Guangdong Province also released a couple of plans for inviting investment from Taiwan in basic infrastructures, electronic, information and chemical industries etc.
